The Redeeming Grace Devotional-Journal Series was an idea that came in the fall of 2011. It developed into a series of 40-Day devotional-journals that stand alone. They do not have to be used in any special order. Each one stands alone. Each one has a devotional, journal, and small group discussion component. The devotional-journal is for personal and private reflection on the scriptures. The small group discussion component is separate and contains six lessons per journal. The lessons are written so members of your weekly small group may discuss with each other the scriptures and their comfort or challenge to us as believers in Jesus.
From the Introduction of Volume 1, Redeeming Grace is the title of the series. I chose this title because it describes to me what God's love has moved the Father to do for us. His redeeming grace, through Jesus Christ, offers us salvation. I say "offers" because it is not a forced relationship. The Father offers us salvation by faith in Jesus. We decide to accept it or not. the gift of redemption is what we receive when we believe in Jesus. This can only be on account of God's grace (unmerited favor). The scriptures tell us of this grace. When we read, study, and meditate on the scriptures we come to know our Redeemer more intimately and we come to understand His grace better..
The series of devotional-journals is dedicated to my brothers and sisters in Christ with whom I have served through the years. Each of you has had an impact on my life and I have thought of you as I have written these pages.
I can do nothing unless I am abiding in the Vine. Without Jesus I can do nothing. All the glory goes to God. May the Holy Spirit breathe God's word into our lives and stir us to action.
